Welcome to the Van Antwerp Middle School Visual Arts Home Page. Our school is made up of 450 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Sixth graders have art every day for 20 weeks. Seventh and eighth graders have art every day for 10 weeks. All students are required to keep a visual diary/sketchbook for homework assignments given while they are in art class.

All students are required to keep a sketchbook/visual diary during the quarter(s) they are in art class. Sketchbooks are sold at our school store. Sketchbooks should be 9"x 12" or 8"x 11" and filled with white paper. Homework assignments are given in the sketchbook each week. Students are expected to spend approximately 45 minutes on each assignment. The drawings should be done in pencil (unless otherwise assigned) and should be large enough to fill the page. Unless measuring is involved, students are asked not to use a ruler. Each assignment is graded with emphasis being put on the student's effort.
