All About Me...

I was born and raised in upstate New York (more specifically Morrisonville, NY - just 30 minutes south of the Canadian border) where I attended Saranac Central Schools. Probably one of my most memorable educational experiences there was with my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Downey. She was an amazing teacher who taught me so much not only about school, but about life. She also showed me that learning didn't stop once we left the classroom - she showed me that we never truly stop learning in the world around us. Mrs. Downey is the one who inspired me to teach and I work hard each and every day to be the teacher for others that she was for me.

Upon graduating in 1996, I went on to attend Plattsburgh State University for my undergraduate degree in Elementary/Special Education. I truly enjoyed all that Plattsburgh had to offer for me not only within the classroom, but outside (as Mrs. Downey had taught me). I was in everything from Upward Bound to a being Student Ambassador to even enjoying my time as a Resident Advisor. While working on my undergraduate degree, I worked for an early intervention preschool and within a local elementary school. I loved the younger children, but thought that working with older children might be a better match.

From there, I ventured to Albany, NY to attend the University at Albany for my MS degree in Special Education (and later for my MS degree in Literacy for grades 5-12). While completing my degree there in 2000, I was fortunate enough to work for Niskayuna Central Schools through their Summer Literacy Program for a summer and at Niskayuna High School for a semester. Little did I know that just two years later I would be working for them as a Special Education teacher! I couldn't be happier to be here now.

I now live in Ballston Lake, NY with my husband Mark and our son Luke. Needless to say I love the area, this district, my fellow colleagues, parents, and of course my students. I look forward to working with you throughout the year!
