WELCOME TO 6th GRADE!!!
|
| Dear 6th
graders, Welcome to Iroquois Middle
School!!! So, what's different from Elementary
School? The first thing you will realize
is that your day at Iroquois will be different
then you day at your elementary school.
The Day:
8:00-9:00 am: Before school
help and activities
9:00-9:15 am: Homeroom
9:15-3:30 pm: Classes ( Math, English,
Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language,
Specials, Flex, PE, Lunch, and Advocacy)
3:30-4:15 pm: After school activities (
Extra help sessions, clubs, intramural sports) |
| More Classes and teachers:
Most 6th graders will take six or seven different
classes each day. You will also have
different teachers for each one. The English,
Science, Math, and Social Studies teachers are
called the "Team Teachers". These four
teachers will also see you at homeroom, flex, and
advocacy times. At the beginning of the
school year they will plan team
activities which will help you to get to know the other
students in your classes.
|
| More Classmates:
You may not be in classes with your current
friends, but don't worry, you will see them in the cafeteria
and in before and after school activities.
You will have the opportunity to make many new
friends from the other elementary schools and
students new to the district.
|
| More Choices:
There will be a variety of before and after school
activities for you to choose from. Listen to
the announcements and read the Iroquois web page
to keep up on all the offerings. Get
involved, participating in clubs and
activities gives you a chance to meet new friends
and to be part of the community.
|
| Tips for success:
Have a positive attitude about becoming a part
of the Iroquois community. Be open to making
new friends, and having new experiences.
Get involved!!! There are a lot of
things to do at Iroquois, join one of our clubs,
join the chorus, participate in intramural sports.
Student who are involved end up having a positive
school experience.
Get connected!!! try to connect
with one or more adults in the building.
They are here to help, and it's always a good
feeling to know that there is someone at school
to
talk to when you have a problem, or any type of
question.
